Introduction

All users of Lumina Open University information systems must agree to the terms outlined below in order to access these systems.

The services and information provided through Lumina Open University information systems are for personal use only. By using these systems, you agree to use them solely for purposes related to the courses you are studying at the University of London and not for any other purposes, including commercial use.

By using the University's information systems, you agree to adhere to the terms of the Joint Academic Network (JANET) Acceptable Use Policy.

If you violate any of these terms and conditions, the University may consider it misconduct. In applicable cases, the University will address such violations under the Code of Student Discipline outlined in Ordinance 17.

Security

You are responsible for the security and use of your username and password. You are prohibited from using another user's account, username, or password. You must keep your username and password confidential and not share them with anyone.

Content and Copyright

The copyright of all content within the University's information systems is owned or controlled by Lumina Open University, its constituent Colleges, or third parties who have permitted its inclusion in these systems. By accepting these terms, you agree that this content is for personal use only and that you will not copy (except for permitted downloads), edit, modify, adapt, reproduce, publish, redistribute, reverse engineer, decompile, lend, sell, lease, rent, create derivative works from, combine with other third-party content, or otherwise distribute or make the content accessible to third parties.

By contributing content to any of the University's information systems, you grant Lumina Open University and your College a licence to reproduce this content. You also grant other users a licence to download or copy the content in accordance with these terms.

You agree not to contribute any material that would infringe on someone else's copyright or violate any of the conditions outlined in the Acceptable Use Policies mentioned in the Introduction to these Terms and Conditions.

Lumina Open University reserves the right to remove, modify, or amend any content on its information systems at any time, without prior notice.

Data Protection

By accepting these terms, you agree that the University may collect certain information about you and your use of its information systems. This information will be used to improve our services and maintain records of academic activity.

Lumina Open University will handle your personal data in accordance with the principles outlined in the Data Protection Act. Any personal information you provide will only be used within Lumina Open University, its Colleges, and its service providers for the purposes described above, and will not be shared with any other parties.

By accepting these terms, you consent to Lumina Open University and your College processing your personal data for the purposes outlined above.

Disclaimer

While Lumina Open University will make every effort to ensure its information systems are available 24 hours a day, it will not be held liable if any system is unavailable at any time or for any duration. Access to the University's systems may be temporarily suspended without notice for maintenance, repairs, system failure, or reasons beyond the University’s control.

Lumina Open University information systems may include links to external sources outside its control. The University is not responsible for the content of these sources and accepts no liability for any consequences arising from their use. The University does not guarantee that these links will always be functional and has no control over the availability of the linked sources. Additionally, references or links to these sources should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the opinions or services provided by them. The University assumes no responsibility for the privacy policies of any linked information sources.
