Learning Experience
Incorporating collaboration with industry and engaging in real-world software projects is a fundamental component of studying computing at LOU. During your second year, you'll have the chance to participate in our three-week-long industry challenge, Hackcamp. Collaborating with fellow second-year computing students, you'll collaborate to create a web-hosted dashboard or application to address a real-life scenario outlined by one of our industry partners. At the culmination of the three weeks, students also have the opportunity to showcase their completed projects at our Hackcamp showcase day.

Industry Placement
For full-time students, there exists the possibility of undertaking an industrial placement year between the second and third years of study. While it will be your responsibility to secure your placement, we will provide you with a placement tutor who will oversee your progress and evaluate your final report.
Upon successfully finishing a placement year, you have the opportunity to augment your degree award with the designation "with professional experience." Industry placements serve as a superb avenue for enriching your CV, acquiring practical work experience, and establishing connections within the industry.

LOU Alternative Entry Scheme (LOUAES)

The Lumina Open University Alternative Entry Scheme offers two distinct pathways, and applicants will be directed to the one that aligns with their chosen course. Evaluation will occur either through a review of prior learning or via a formal examination. To qualify for consideration under this scheme, applicants must have attained or be actively working towards achieving GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade C/4 or equivalent.
